Meet Our Staff

Katy Banick
EXECUTIVE Director
Katy is passionate about supporting the mission of Beaverhead Animal Shelter and helping make a difference for both animals and the community. She enjoys working alongside the shelter team to make sure every animal receives the care, compassion, and opportunity for a second chance they deserve.
For Katy, the most rewarding part is seeing the shelter’s mission come to life—bringing people and animals together, supporting the community, and helping pets find their way to loving homes.

Maddy S.
Directors Assistant
Maddy loves her role at the Beaverhead Animal Shelter, but to her, it’s about much more than a job. She loves the animals, cares deeply about the shelter, and is always willing to be there for whatever—and whoever—needs her.
From lending a hand with the animals and supporting the staff to helping behind the scenes and stepping in during the unexpected moments, Maddy is someone the team can always count on.
She loves being part of every moment at the shelter—the busy days, the hard days, the happy adoptions, and everything in between. For Maddy, being there for the animals and the people who care for them is what makes her role so special.

Laurie K.
LEAD ADMIN
Laurie enjoys being with animals, especially cats. She can often be found in the back snuggling with or holding the cats and kittens. Often, Laurie is the first one you see at the shelter or hear on the phone.
When not at the shelter she spends time with her two cats. She also enjoys camping, walking, and spending time at Forest Service cabins.

Stephanie C. , LVT
Stef is our Licensed Veterinary Technician and has a passion for caring for the medical needs of the animals at Beaverhead Animal Shelter.
Working closely with our local veterinarians, Stef helps make sure every animal receives the best possible medical care while they are with us. Whether an animal needs routine care, medication, extra attention, or support while healing, she is dedicated to keeping them healthy and comfortable.
Stef loves being an advocate for the animals in our care and helping them feel their best as they get ready for their second chance.

Abby K.
animal care provider
Abigail has a biology and psychology major with plans of going to vet school, and interests in animal behavior and rehabilitation. Her favorite part of working at BAS is seeing animals succeed in their new homes! There's something truly special about helping an animal out of their shell, and into the hearts of whoever meets them.

Jess T.
DOG TRAINER
Jess has a special way with dogs, especially some of our special cases who need a little extra time, patience, and understanding.
She loves working with dogs who may be struggling with fear, confidence, manners, or simply adjusting to shelter life. Jess takes the time to understand each dog as an individual, build their trust, and help them learn the skills they need to succeed.
Some dogs just need someone who believes in them—and Jess loves being that person. Watching a dog make progress, come out of their shell, and become ready for a loving home is one of the most rewarding parts of what she does.

"Louie"
Mascott
Louie is a lovable Lab mix and Beaverhead Animal Shelter’s official mascot! He loves joining us at community events, meeting new people, and making everyone smile wherever he goes. Louie is always happy to represent the shelter and help spread the word about giving animals the second chances they deserve!
Compassion in Action
At Beaverhead Animal Shelter, we believe in a full and enriched life for all; humans and animals alike. We strive to provide the animals in our care a positive environment until they can be placed in their new homes. We welcome our community to walk alongside us and experience the joy of helping an animal first-hand. We extend our belief beyond the shelter walls to provide resources and support for pets and their families in our community.
